Espai Professió Seminar: Discovering SEROM’s Role at Diagonal 471
Recently, SEROM’s Tendering, Contracting, Human Resources, and Communication teams visited the Diagonal 471 site, which is now in its final stages.
The seminar, organized in collaboration with the Barcelona College of Technical Architecture (Cateb) and the Barcelona School of Building Construction (EPSEB), offered students a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the technical, construction, and logistical details of a highly complex real estate project. During the session, participants were able to delve into the different phases involved in the development of a building of high architectural quality, from initial planning to site execution, including coordination between technical teams, engineers, architects, and developers.
Why is it important?
Expert presentations. Professionals directly involved in the project gave brief 10-minute presentations explaining their specific roles within the site: construction management, site management, planning, quality control, sustainability, and technical coordination. This agile format allowed students to understand how responsibilities are distributed within a real project and how the different professional profiles involved in the construction of a building with these characteristics interact.
Networking and practical learning. Beyond the presentations, the seminar provided opportunities for direct conversation between students and professionals. This interaction allowed for resolving doubts, sharing industry experiences, and gaining close insight into the challenges faced by technical teams in complex urban projects. For the students, it was also a valuable opportunity to better understand potential career paths within the field of building construction.
A project destined to be a benchmark. The Diagonal 471 building aspires to become a new architectural icon in Barcelona, not only for its design and strategic location but also for its strong commitment to sustainability. The project has been designed with demanding environmental criteria and is expected to achieve LEED Platinum certification, the highest level of this international accreditation for sustainable building.
This rating recognizes buildings that incorporate advanced solutions for energy efficiency, resource optimization, emission reduction, and improvement of user environmental comfort.
